When a series of earthquakes struck Venezuela, my husband, Dr. Alberto Jacir, and our daughter, Julia Jacir, a proud Ransom Everglades student, found themselves unexpectedly stranded and unable to return to the United States. Instead of allowing uncertainty to define their time there, they chose to turn it into an opportunity to serve others.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our family, friends, and the amazing Ransom Everglades community, we were able to raise funds from Miami that have now been transformed into essential supplies purchased directly in Caracas, Venezuela.
These donations—including diapers, baby formula, milk, water, infant powder, children’s shampoo, and many other basic necessities—have been delivered to Hogar Bambi, an extraordinary institution that has been caring for orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as children separated from their families, for more than 30 years.
Although we do not personally know Erika Spillmann, we deeply admire the work she and her team have dedicated their lives to. When we learned Hogar Bambi urgently needed supplies, we knew this was where your generosity could make an immediate difference.
This donation is a reflection of what can happen when a community comes together with compassion and purpose. Every contribution, every message of encouragement, and every person who shared our fundraiser helped make this possible.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our family, friends, and especially the Ransom Everglades community for your generosity, kindness, and unwavering support. Your compassion has made a real difference in the lives of children who need it most. Together, we are proving that even in the midst of adversity, hope can travel far.
