Mayme's Parlor "A Charming Place of Peculiars"
This page is to show some of the crafts and treasures we have found along the way. Our initial projects are pincushions!

Named for "Mayme" Clancy, in whose parlor we used to play with her treadle sewing machine, it's really to honor all crafters, sewers, those who make new, and those who make do. We cruised thrift stores for interesting, delightful, and almost-forgotten pieces and upcycled them into something useful and fun! Grandma Clancy repurposed items for her household, let's carry on the tradition!

I've always enjoyed seeing vintage sewing tools. This sewing machine is from a treadle cabinet. It is a Queen brand, made by the White Sewing Machine Company, probably from the 1890s. This one was well-loved, and found another home with me! I wanted to show you where I got my inspiration for the figural pincushions I've been making. These were both found at Goodwill. The owl is from about the 1960s, I'm guessing. The little dog is a lot older, about the 1920s. Check out the hair stuffing!

This is the first batch of pincushions we will offer for sale at Saturday's craft show/flea market. Each piece is different, and each is upcycled from thrift store finds. I don't know which part is more fun, shopping at the thrift stores for interesting or forgotten pieces, or creating something useful out of them! Many more to come.
I hope you like them!
