If you’re a long time Middletown resident, the name Charlie Brooks might sound familiar. Charlie has been a carpenter in the Middletown area for 50+ years and could often be found at Halsey Myers getting his lumber for upcoming projects.

We are thrilled to share that Charlie has expanded his trade and started woodworking. If you’ve been in the store over the summer you may have already seen his handmade birds on display!

Today, Charlie blew my mind and brought in these BEAUTIFUL crosses and clocks. The detail and quality of the wood literally took my breath away. Stop in this week and check out the work of these in person. ✝️

Monarch will be closed until Friday!

I am attending a conference in Cincinnati to network and gather new ideas to bring to our downtown community ❤️

We will reopen on Friday for First Friday!

DMI is out of office for the week!
Miranda and Kelsey are representing Downtown Middletown Inc. at the 2026 Heritage Ohio Annual Conference in Cincinnati!
This annual conference brings together Main Street organizations, community leaders, preservation professionals, and downtown advocates from across Ohio to learn about downtown revitalization, economic development, historic preservation, small business support, community engagement, and strengthening our Main Street districts.
Over the next few days, we’ll be learning, networking, and gathering new ideas and resources that we can bring right back home to Downtown Middletown
We’re excited to learn from communities across Ohio, and share a little of what makes our downtown special, too!
