Never ignore the floor underneath your floor.

Concrete, plywood, particle board, epoxy. Each subfloor changes what products will work and how the installation needs to be done.

Big box stores often ignore this advice. That can easily lead to failed installations.

We take the opposite approach. Every home is different, every job is custom. Get a free measure and we'll assess your subfloor before anything gets ordered.

Do you really want bare feet on a cold floor?

A virtue of carpet is that it's warm and soft. It's perfect for bedrooms where shoes are already off.

So no, we're not giving up on carpet. But in other room of your home, it's worth considering floors that are easy to wipe clean, like tile and vinyl plank.

Most “stain proof” claims go too far.

Some floors are more stain resistant than others. Vinyl plank and carpet with solution-dyed fibers can be good choices for families who expect spills. But there’s only one truly stain proof floor: porcelain tile. And even then, the grout can still stain.

No matter what floor you choose, don’t rely on warranties or overpromises. You should clean spills quickly and avoid using harsh chemicals.

A beetle almost wiped out ash hardwood floors.

For a limited time, Ash is back. If you're tired of oak, oak, and more oak, it's worth a close look.

Ash grain is wide, bold, and unlike any other species. Fabrica's aptly named Relic line captures it well. We don't know how long it will be available.

Many floors are marketed as a weekend DIY project. They rarely are.

Difficult spots like uneven subfloors, transitions, and moisture concerns are common. Handling them correctly takes years of experience.

Flooring materials are an investment. A failed installation can mean costly repairs, callbacks, or replacement.

If you are going to spend money on a product built to last, make the investment in the craftsmen.
