It's been almost a year since I've posted: It's been a rough year, so my crafting hasn't been as common. Last Christmas, I made a whole slew of cross stitch ornaments for my family to honor a loved one that had passed recently. After that, I took a break from crafting while I attempted a new job, which I ended up not meshing with. Over the course of the year, I've gotten back into my main job that I held previously, and I've slowly been gaining the time and dedication to craft again.
The biggest obstacle of getting back into crafting full swing has been my Severe Bilateral Carpal Tunnel. In August, I began treatment for this decade long ailment that has affected me greatly by having cortisone injections. For the first time in at least 10 years, I was able to use my hands without pain. Because the injections worked so well, my doctor and I decided it was time to have the surgery. I have Carpal Tunnel Release surgery scheduled for February 16th, 2024 for my right wrist.
Until my surgery (less than 3 months!), I am going to be taking it easy for crafting and the like. It's been difficult to hold a crochet hook, it been harder to maintain tension and make what I'm creating look uniform and, well, correct.
I'm excited to heal and finally, FINALLY, have full use of my hands (at least the right one for now!).
Thank you to everyone who supports me, who has believed in me despite the break from crafting and craft shows, and for the love I feel from my community. My goal is to be back into craft shows and making/selling products again by Christmas of 2024.
I can't wait to be healed. In the meantime, look out for some past projects that I can finally upload pictures of.
Much love, Emmett's Oddities 🫶
