Rivers & Walnut works collaboratively with trusted contractors, 3D rendering companies, architects and builders to create a custom design for your home. My biggest labor of love yet. This project began as nothing more than a lot and a set of plans. From the very beginning I worked closely with the contractor and architect to shape the floor plan and overall architecture. Every space, every detail, from the smallest feature to the final finish, carries my hand and my heart.

This project taught me so much about design, about the building process, and about myself. It stretched me creatively and challenged me on the business side in ways I did not expect. I carried it alongside raising and homeschooling five children, welcoming a new baby, navigating Joe’s heart attack, losing my dad, and completing a full remodel of a 120 year old home. I stayed with it through every season. After three long years, it is finally complete and I couldn’t be more proud.

This was my mothers day.
My kids fought.
Some of them whined.
I felt perpetually tired.
The house stayed messy.
But I wouldn’t trade one single second for anything different.

I found this 100 year old antique bed on Facebook market place. It was one of my best finds. It’s so cool and really dang beautiful.

Genevieve, my daughter, said:

I was asking Rowan, our 4 year old, if she really understood what Easter was about.
She excitedly said:
“Yes! If we are really good Jesus will come and bring us presents.”
Oh boy.
I may be failing at these important lessons but I never stop worshipping Him.
I worship Him with every kiss I give, tear I wipe,
lesson I teach,
baby I rock,
friend I call,
sibling I love,
Neighbor I serve,
husband I work along side.

I worship Him in all the good I try hard to do and the good humans I’m trying to raise.

I’ll forever be grateful I know I am a daughter of God. I have a Savior who loves me and who makes up for all the ways I fall short… Even the lessons I don’t get right. 😅

Once I bought mixing bowls from a little old lady on Facebook marketplace. They were the bowls she used for years making bread for her family. Now, she told me, her children were all grown up and her bread days were behind her.
To my surprise she ended up including 3 handwritten recipe cards with the bowls of her favorite recipes.

I’ve made her bread numerous times and love it all the more the bowls and the recipes have such sweet history behind them.

It’s amazing what a transformation even a sink can undergo. ➡️

I’ve been encouraged to put my face on here more often…

So here’s my face 😂
This is me… McKenzie.
Kenz to my friends. Kenzers to Joe and Tenz to my brothers. Most days I go by mom.

I have 4 babies.
A farmhouse high in the Utah mountains.
A love for my animals (30 chickens, 2 horses, 2 cats and our dog Penny)

I am passionate about family, community, small town values and creating homes that honor the families they hold.

I am an entrepreneur. Designing new builds and restorations.
Currently I am working on a 138 year old full restoration of a farmhouse, estimated completion 8/23.

I’m also designing a new build in Park City, Utah, estimated completion 11/23.

What I’m doing after those two projects is yet to be seen. I have faith I’ll be led in the direction I’m meant to go… Looking for my next project. My next client. My next home to pour my heart and soul into.

So yeah…That’s me in a nutshell. A very small nutshell because I’m a woman of many passions and faces. Hopefully that wasn’t too awkward.
