Sneak peek into my head as I develop my tablescape design. As co-chair of this inaugural charity event, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes. is bringing the creative community together with two events, both .

More than 25 highly stylized tablescapes will greet you as you enter The Grand Ballroom. See creativity at its finest, then enjoy some shopping at our curated boutique, and top off the afternoon with a book signing by interiors and architectural photographer . His new book, Midwest Home, is a must have for anyone who wants to take a peek into how the Midwest lives, and how Ryan brings those homes to life.

The evening gala includes drinks, dinner and a wonderful program, as our event benefits both breast and prostate cancer research.

Another trip around the sun for me - same attitude, same cheeks, but more laid back now than in my earlier years.

I’m not sure why, but things just don’t get to me like they did when I was younger. I’m sure some of it just comes with age, but some also came about in part because of raising a large family, several years of it on my own. You don’t have time to sweat the small stuff - you just handle it.

That attitude has translated into how I handle issues that arise on projects both large and small. There is always a solution; it’s how you approach the issue that determines whether the outcome will be a success.

So for all my quirks and idiosyncrasies, my attitude is, I think, the one I’m most proud of - so I’ll hang on to it.

Now off to dinner and enjoy the best deep fried cheese curds in the Midwest, along with great company and a nice glass of wine.
