Laser Lakes

Here's a sneak peek at my newest — and most intricate — map to date.

This map of Lake Minnetonka measures 38 inches long by 29 inches tall and is around 3 inches thick. It was built in 5-foot depth increments and consists of 23 layers, with more than 300 individual pieces of structure glued in after the main layers were assembled.

And it weighs 75 pounds.

I'll have this map on display in Booth 122 at the Rivertown Fall Art Festival 2026

This wasn't a commissioned project. I just wanted to see how far I could push the art. :)

(Re)introducing MiniMaps!

I have been making MiniMaps for a while now, and later today, they’ll finally have a place on my website.

MiniMaps are four- or five-layer versions of my larger maps. They capture the essence of the lake while fitting nicely into smaller spaces—and smaller budgets.

Each MiniMap measures 8 by 10 inches and comes with a frame and protective glass. They’re made from the same Baltic birch, with the same care and attention to detail that I put into my full-size maps.

I’ll share the link once they’re available later today.

This Horseshoe Lake map was commissioned by Michelle to celebrate her family’s purchase of a lake cabin in 2026.

Horseshoe Lake is particularly interesting because its two sides are divided by a dramatic peninsula—and honestly, it just looks really cool!

I’m thrilled they chose me to create this piece of art that will become part of their family’s cabin memories.

I just finished this map of Lotus Lake for Lotus Lake Gifts & Home Decor. It's quite flattering when a gift shop owner chooses your work for themselves :)

I finally have my Largemouth Bass wall art back in stock — and for the first time in a while, I actually have enough of them that I added it back to the website this morning.

There’s a lot packed into this piece, and it’s one of those designs that’s especially fun to explore in person.

It’s also probably my most difficult wall art piece to make, so it tends to fall behind everything else in production. This time I made about 20 of them, so I should be stocked up for a bit.

I recently finished a custom 15 layer map of Big Trout Lake. For Jocellyn as a gift to her brother. Delivering the map to Jocellyn was almost as fun as making map itself!

Even after making hundreds of maps, I still get a bit nervous before adding the top layer.
