A recent hail storm had one of our customers wondering if his 20-year-old roof had sustained any new hail damage.
During the inspection, we found that the roof had definitely reached—and likely exceeded—its expected lifespan. There were plenty of missing granules, some older hail damage, and other signs of wear. However, nothing from the recent storm appeared to qualify him for a full roof replacement through insurance.

But we did notice something important: a missing shingle.

The shingles on his roof had actually been discontinued for nearly 15 years. That meant replacing that one missing shingle with a matching product wasn’t going to be an option, so we ended up filing a claim.

This is a great reminder of why I always encourage homeowners to have their roof and exterior inspected at least once a year.

Sometimes it’s not the damage you’re looking for that matters—it’s the small issue you didn’t even know was there. 🏠

If you haven’t had your roof checked in a while, it may be worth having me take a look before a small problem turns into a much bigger one.
