THIS IS MINNEAPOLIS!
Last night thousands of people enjoyed over 500 ice luminaries shining brightly on the banks of Lake of the Isles as part of the Luminary Loppet’s Enchanted Forest. The displays included three beautiful memorials for Renee Good and Alex Pretti. By popular demand, today we will have the entire Enchanted Forest lit from 4pm to 11pm. Please share to get the word out!!!

The Enchanted Forest is located near the intersection of Lake of the Isles Parkway and Oliver Ave. S. in South Minneapolis. While most of the Enchanted Forest will be disassembled on Monday, the three memorials will remain in place as long as the weather allows.

Here’s the first of my Origami Paper Ice Window. It was my tester and the ice is a little thin so l’m going to let the rest freeze a little longer. Since freezing slows down in the day, I will probably open the an hour after dark to let any melting from the sun refreeze. I learned how to make the origami window stars from and - check them out!

I love playing with shape and texture of ice lanterns! This ice lantern was created by hanging it so it -just barely- touched the ground with a tiny breath of air at the top. It was delightfully clear, but to add drama, I thermal shocked it to create swaths of light along the cracks. I love playing! I put this beautiful ice lantern out to greet the students who braved the cold to attend my Intro to Ice Lanterns class last Tuesday ❤️

All the Fluted Ice Lantern Molds for tomorrow’s Intro to Ice Lantern Class are 3/4 full and ready to be carried outside and filled to the top with water. The class starts at 1pm so we are deciding when to put them out. 24 hours at 0*F will make a beautiful fluted ice lantern, but what if the temp is going to drop precipitously during the night. The average temp will be about -5*F, so we are going to put them out at 4pm and check in the morning. If they are getting too thick we can always cover them with blankets. It’s always challenging when the temps are riding a roller coaster 😂
