What if a beautiful room didn't require pretending kids don't live there?

I've been playing around with dream spaces again, and for this one I wanted a living room that felt cozy, comfortable and pulled together—but still made sense for an actual family.

Toys need somewhere to go. People want to put their feet up. Blankets get used. Kids live here.

I don't want a room that only looks good when nobody touches anything. 😂

I want spaces that make you think, “I want to live there.”

Comfortable seating, practical storage, warm layers and enough personality to make it feel like home.

Pretty can still be practical. And lived-in can still be beautiful. 🧡

Apparently I’m not ready to let summer go yet. ☀️

I’ve been playing around with outdoor spaces today because the reality is…summer is coming to an end way too quickly, and I’m suddenly wanting to soak up every last bit of outdoor relaxation time.

A morning cup of coffee. A quiet place to read. Dinner outside. Or somewhere comfortable to land at the end of a busy day.

I created 4 completely different outdoor spaces with the same goal in mind: make home feel like somewhere you actually want to slow down and stay awhile.

Two are cozy country, one is colorful and collected, and one is a little cleaner and more suburban — and honestly, I could happily spend an evening in ANY of them. 😂

I was playing around with designs again, because eventually I hope to be working on my own home office.

I wanted to see what it would look like to create a space that was colorful and whimsical, but still felt calm and functional. Something with personality and quirky little details, without crossing over into cluttered or chaotic.

And apparently I have a thing for scallops, because they keep sneaking into everything I design. 😂

I love how this one turned out! It feels cozy, creative and like a place I’d actually WANT to sit down and work in.

My real office will probably come together one little project at a time, but that’s half the fun — getting to see the possibility before you get there. 💕

I think this might be one of my favorite lessons from playing around with homes lately:

Potential doesn’t always mean changing what’s there. Sometimes it’s seeing what’s missing. ✨

This new construction home didn’t need to be redesigned. The house was already beautiful.

But it didn’t quite feel like home yet.

So I played. 🌿

Landscaping. Flowers. A little warmth around the entrance. Outdoor lighting. A few small details that make you want to walk up the sidewalk and go inside.

Same house. Completely different feeling.

And THAT is the part I love. Sometimes you don’t need a renovation—you just need to be able to see the possibility.

Apparently I’m still playing with houses. 😂

This time I started with a completely empty new-construction living room. Nothing was necessarily wrong with it — it was just a blank space waiting for someone to imagine what life could look like there.

For this version, I wanted it comfortable, cozy and inviting without feeling cluttered. Somewhere you could actually picture people sitting down, putting their feet up and staying awhile.

And this is one of my favorite parts of doing these — the exact same room could become something completely different depending on who lives there and what they need from it.

You don’t always have to know your “design style.” Sometimes you just know how you want your home to feel.

Apparently I’m still having way too much fun with this. 😂

My dream is basically an entire day where no one needs me and I can curl up somewhere ridiculously cozy and read. Obviously I also requested a tiny snack/drink station because in this fantasy I will NOT be getting up. 😂

I played around until I landed on this little reading nook and now I want it to exist in real life.

I’ve realized I’m having so much fun starting with how I want a space to feel and then seeing what it could become. This one needed to feel cozy, calm, warm and a little whimsical. 💕

Lately I’ve realized something…

I’ve always loved imagining what ordinary homes could become.

Instead of waiting until I have the budget to renovate, I decided to start creating the visions I’ve had in my head for years.

This is our 1990’s rambler… and the home I see when I look at it.

My hope is that Inspired Home becomes a place where people are reminded that beautiful homes don’t have to feel out of reach.

This is the very beginning. 💛
