Pinehurst California Cabins

Pinehurst California Cabins Take a piece of the mountains home with you when you shop Bachrun LoMele's print designs from Pinehurst California Cabins.

Bachrun and Mahalia LoMele landed in Pinehurst, California from Brooklyn, New York in 2003 (long story). Mahalia was a pianist and educator; Bachrun is a fine artist, and pursued a career in illustration. In 2008, they opened Fivespot Cabin to vacationers staying in Pinehurst to visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Just 15 minutes away from the Big Stump entrance to the Parks, Fivespot p

roved to be a happy place for visitors in all seasons, and so, in 2016, Merrynook Cabin was established next door. Last year, Bachrun began designing small, decorative patterns inspired by the creatures and plants surrounding us in the mountain forest. These Sierra Nevada designs capture a bit of the feeling of being here: the thrill, the wonder, the freedom of being outside in nature. These prints as well as original work are offered at our Honor System Gift Shop at the cabins, and now, online. We hope you are delighted by Bachrun's designs. Whether you pick your favorite design, or all of them, you will be taking that special mountain cabin feeling home.

We love these wonderful creatures!

Autumn in the Sierra foothills is characterized by the pitter patter of tiny, hairy feet! Thought horrifying by some, adorable by others, our local tarantulas, which belong to the genus Aphonopelma, pose no threat to people (although we should still be respectful, and leave them alone).

The tarantulas that you see out and about are all male; at this time of year, they are out searching for mates! Females, in contrast, stay close to their burrows, and tend to live much longer for that reason. You can help the gentlemen's odds of living long enough to reproduce by being careful while you drive - they're often seen walking on the roads!
