For this month’s WAFA online fiber festival, I’ll be going LIVE to share Louisiana-grown and regional fibers from my studio, including Gulf Coast Native wool, Louisiana mohair, angora blends, Acadian Brown Cotton, and naturally dyed cotton.
A big part of my work is connecting the people who grow regional fibers with the spinners and makers who want to use them. Louisiana has a fascinating fiber history, but these materials aren’t just part of the past. I believe they can be part of the future of textile making, too.
During the live, I’ll show the fibers up close, talk about where they came from and how they were prepared, and share ideas for spinning and using them. Most are small-batch and available in limited quantities.
If you enjoy unusual fibers and like knowing the people, places, and stories behind what you spin, come hang out and explore some Louisiana fiber with me!
