As an interior architectural designer, I spend countless hours designing custom cabinetry. Before a single cabinet is built, there is one critical step: shop drawing review.

So, what are shop drawings?

Shop drawings are detailed construction drawings created by the cabinet or millwork fabricator. They show exactly how your custom cabinetry and built-ins will be manufactured and installed, including:
✔️ Dimensions
✔️ Materials and finishes
✔️ Door and drawer styles
✔️ Hardware locations
✔️ Moldings and trim details
✔️ Interior cabinet layouts
✔️ Installation requirements
Think of them as the final blueprint for fabrication.

Reviewing shop drawings allows me to confirm that every detail aligns with the original design intent before production begins. It’s where design meets precision and where potential mistakes are caught before they become costly problems on site.

“BELIEF and AWE”…I’m still thinking about that New York Knicks 🏀 game last night. Wow!! congrats to the KNICKS and NY FANS!

On the heels of that game seeing that BELIEF come to life was incredible!

Even Jalen Brunson said it. When he was asked what emotions he was feeling, he said “he was in awe.” AWE is a deeper emotion. He was overwhelmed with amazement at what he had just witnessed from his team. It felt bigger than he expected.

The Knicks embodied belief….They stayed in the fight, chipped away, trusted one another, and found a way.

We all witnessed what the power of heart, resilience, and belief can do.

They believed. And they won

Peeking in on one of our new construction projects as it begins to take shape.

This is one of those collaborations where I was brought in to help refine and elevate the architect’s package by integrating interior space planning, ceiling design, and a cohesive design vision from the inside out.

One of my favorite moments is arriving on site and seeing the ideas that began over a cup of coffee and a sketch come to life. The floating stepped ceiling in the center hall is already doing exactly what it was intended to do….drawing your eye upward, creating architectural interest, and setting the stage for the statement stair beyond. Natural light pours through the space, giving it a sense of openness, movement, and calm.

I can already envision the finished home: rich in texture, layered with thoughtful detail, yet serene and effortlessly livable. A home designed to engage the senses while offering a sense of refuge. A place that feels like an exhale at the end of the day.

This is the power of thoughtful design. It begins with a sketch and ultimately becomes a space that transforms the way you live! ®

I saw it at KBIS and immediately thought this is Poetic Modernism in material form.

Get this….
did not just show products at KBIS. They built a feeling.

Steam rising softly. A cold plunge that wakes up your skin. Waterfall effects cascading from multiple showerheads. Overhead rain. Side sprays. Sheets of water. Mist. It was immersive.

It was not a booth with things on display. More a reminder that water is not just plumbing. It is emotion. It is ritual. It is recovery.

As someone who designs spaces that whisper take care of yourself, I loved that it was about the experience of coming home to yourself. It is how we should live….And when water is choreographed like that, it becomes poetry.
