“I like them to look, think and then look again.” I love this quote by Donald Judd. I recently saw his artwork at Dlabeano which someone would say it looks like a box but it holds a presence that demands engagement. His objects claims space around it. As you circle the boxes, your position changes what you feel. Time and space are not fixed. They’re made, and you’re the one making them.

Judd inspires how I design. I think about how people move and breathe through a space, from a ceiling design to staircase to a built in, so a home feels connected and lived in with real impact ®

Part 3 minimal details- The best lighting is the lighting you don’t see.

One of my favorite hidden details is the concealed LED lighting beneath the stair platform. Once the platform is wrapped in stone, you won’t see where the light is coming from. It will simply appear to float.

That soft glow will draw your eye up toward the dramatic double height window, while the stepped risers add depth and dimension.

It’s these quiet, almost invisible details that make the architecture feel special ® ̇nteriorarchitecture

A door that’s designed to disappear.

A jib door sits flush with the wall, eliminating bulky trim and visual clutter. We are still under construction but the walls are being prepared for these types of doors.

Why do I love them? Because great design isn’t always about what you add. Sometimes, it’s about what you make disappear.

Quiet. Seamless. Intentional.

Our tour guide geologist daughter led us to some awe inspiring sites in Yellowstone on Day 3!

1- The lower waterfall of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was mesmerizing. We caught a rainbow!

2- The Mud Volcano was a reminder that Yellowstone is alive beneath our feet. The bubbling mud and steaming earth is all powered by its volcanic system.

3- The hike to Trout Lake was well worth it, leading to a peaceful lake surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

4- Bison! We couldn’t find them for 2 days until we got to the plains. It was wild lol!

5- Calcite Springs Overlook was breathtaking. The Yellowstone River cuts thru the canyon. I especially loved the basalt columns on the upper level of the canyon walls. They formed when lava cooled and cracked into geometric pillars over millions of years ago!

Part 2 in Yellowstone…What did my geologist daughter have planned for us at Yellowstone today? A fascinating thing we learned from Rylie is that beneath Yellowstone lies a massive magma system. This “plumbing” system heats the water that powers the geysers, hot springs, and mud pots. But oh! the incredible colors … guess where they come from?…micro organisms that thrive at different temperatures, turning the landscape into a work of art. See what our day entailed:

1- The Grand Prismatic hot spring: is awe inspiring with its with vibrant colors of orange, blue and brown.
2- Black Sand Basin: a circuit of colorful hot springs and geysers. So many steaming landscapes around every turn. 3- Old Faithful: erupts into a powerful cloud of mist.

If you love natural wonders, Yellowstone belongs on your travel bucket list. We spent days exploring one of the most geologically active places on Earth, and I couldn’t fit it all into one post….so here is Part 1 of our Yellowstone adventure.

Mammoth Hot Springs: Living limestone terraces created by mineral-rich hot water, constantly changing as the earth reshapes them.

Sheepeater Cliff: Ancient lava cooled into striking basalt columns that look almost too perfect to be natural.

Obsidian Cliff: volcanic glass!

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: A breathtaking 308-foot waterfall carving its way through the canyon!

I didn’t realize how much I needed this.

I’m usually working, creating, or connecting with others, but a few hours on the water reminded me how important it is to simply pause and share in a little joy.

Yesterday, my fellow BNI friend Ray took a group of us on his boat from Piermont to the George Washington Bridge. We’re all entrepreneurs, and for a few hours we put work aside and celebrated friendship, conversation, and the simple pleasure of being together.

One thing Ray said really stayed with me:

“I make a living LIVING.”

We all raised a cheer because it was such a powerful reminder. Success isn’t just about building a business….it’s about building a life worth living, too.
