I won’t tell you I’m an interior designer…but apparently my lighting collection will. 😂

To me, lighting isn’t the final layer. It’s the layer that decides how a room feels—the warmth, the shadows and that little invitation to stay awhile.

Of course, one lamp became two. Two became several. And now there is photographic evidence.

Curated, not catalog. Glowing, apparently, at all times.

I thought I was building an interior design business. Apparently, I’ve been creating an increasingly elaborate content studio for my dog. 😂

The honest part: Nook grew from my obsession with making home feel beautiful, layered and deeply personal—but never too precious to actually live in.

DeBo may be the shamelessly adorable bait, but those cozy rooms behind him are the work, the heart and very much me.

I walked past Lucy’s room tonight and caught a moment I never could have staged better.

She was tucked into bed, reading by the light of a headlamp, completely at home in a space that feels unmistakably like her.

Good design should understand the person before it tries to impress the eye.

I care deeply about proportion, color, texture, light and function. But those are only tools.

The real work is creating a space that feels familiar, personal and lived in. A home should not look like a designer came through and imposed a point of view. It should feel like the people who live there became more visible.

That is the kind of trust I want with my clients.

Not just, “Can you make this room beautiful?”

But, “Can you understand us well enough to make it feel like ours?”

And yes… apparently this particular client also needs a better reading light. 🤍

A good palette isn’t really about picking colors. It’s about how everything speaks to each other.

The green might come from a spruce branch.
The blue can hide inside that green.
The warmth can come from aged wood, cognac leather and copper with a little patina.
And the neutral doesn’t have to come from paint — sometimes it’s stone, linen or plaster.

That’s the layering I’m always drawn to: collected, organic, a little European, and grounded in the Colorado landscape.

The mums have arrived, the evenings are getting shorter, and little by little, life starts coming back inside.

This is the shift I love most.

As summer loosens its grip and fall begins to settle in, home becomes the center again — the gathering place, the landing place, the pulse point. It’s where football plays in the background, where blankets reappear, where the kitchen and the nook and the quiet corners start asking to be noticed again.

This season has a way of revealing what isn’t quite working and what’s ready to be reimagined.

Maybe now is the time to start pondering your space.
To pay attention to the rooms you live in every day.
To make a plan.
To begin gathering ideas now so that when the chaos of Christmas comes and goes, you’re ready to move with clarity and intention into the new year.

That’s one of my favorite parts of design — not just making a space beautiful, but helping it feel more like home in the season when home matters most.
