I have a BAD habit of focusing on what I HAVE NOT done instead of what I HAVE accomplished and that needs to stop. I can’t live up to my own expectations and the result is always feeling like a failure. That sucks the joy out of life….and Joy IS my middle name after all. I’m trying to get better.
My flower garden, for instance, is such a mess this year. I let a flower that I thought would be like baby’s breath and great for flower arrangements take over and it choked out everything else. Huge mistake! And then the bunnies helped themselves to all the short flowers they could reach and that really bummed me out. This mess I created just seemed too big to tackle so I gave up. And my garden is supposed to bring me joy but it wasn’t. Just another chore.
The weather cooled down a little last week though and I started to clean up my flower garden and look at what was hiding in the mess! Aren’t they beautiful!!! I still have a big mess to clean up and I don’t have all the other flowers I planned, but I have an ABUNDANCE of GORGEOUS Celosias / C***s Comb!
So, I’m going to tell my brain that this is not a failure, it’s a win, so back off! Could this be a lesson in appreciating what I have as opposed to what I planned? 🤔 I learned some gardening lessons this year that I won’t repeat so that’s progress, and hopefully next year’s flower garden will be better. But until then…..🙌🏻. ~Andrea Joy🌸
