We offer glass art supplies and services, including: custom stained glass work, stained glass repair, kiln rental, and glass art classes. It has transitioned through 2 previous owners, a change of location and in November of 2016 a third owner and a name change. We still offer most of the same supplies and services for stained glass artists in Central and Northern Michigan. This includes classes,
repairs, and custom orders. A wide variety of stained glass finished pieces available for almost any gift occasion. We are happy to work with customers to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are suitable to become treasured keepsakes for generations to come. Class participants learn a new hobby, the value of stained glass creations, meet new friends or do something fun with friends or family, and take home a piece they have made themselves. The “& more” part of the name includes other finished arts & crafts from the new owner’s family: crochet by Jean, hand-carved walking staffs and nature photography by John, with the possibility for ceramics, jewelry, paper-art, and more. New owner's story - Jean: I have always been creative, learned to crochet, sew, and do needlework before I was 10 years old. Somewhere in the back of my mind, having a business to sell crafts had been a secret dream. I went to college for a Bachelor of Science degree in fisheries and wildlife management; married and raised a family; worked part-time here and there; volunteered in Girl Scouts, 4-H and my church. As my kids neared their high school graduation, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next so I went to MMCC and earned an associate degree. Job interviews were not panning out when I learned that The Stained Glass Workshop was for sale in the summer of 2016. Although I had not done stained glass work before, I had watched my kids do glass projects for 4-H and had thought it would be fun to learn. With the full support of my husband, John, I bought the store and have learned so much in the first year. I am delighted to continue learning new glass skills. Its fun to meet the customers and hear their stories, to help them pick out glass for custom orders and see how happy they are when it is finished. It is also very rewarding to make a stained glass piece and see it sell. Although I am fairly new to stained glass, I enjoy teaching beginner classes and seeing others learn new skills and the value of stained glass work.
