Mountain View Quilts

Mountain View Quilts Welcome! My joy is making quilts and I am blessed to be able to sew every day here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I make a wide variety of quilts—including custom requests. I like to keep my creations affordable so they are accessible for everyone.

Finally finished up a couple of projects & cleaned up the table to start something new. Guess I soups get back in the longarm—only 14 quilts ready to do. 🤣

Went to Paducah this week for a few days to meet up with the “art girls” & worked on this. Also had another fabulous dinner at The Freighthouse (watch Chef Sara on Food Network’s Tournament of Champions on Sunday!)
Not sure what I’m going to do with the quilt….I just liked the pattern! 😎

Having a great time so far in Hawaii! Hubby & I are talking a well-deserved vacation for the week.❤️

Another great day at QuiltCon! Wish we had taken more pics. We ran into friends we haven’t seen for awhile & Lisa got back at Christina for yesterday’s scissor stab. 🤣 Then we had a fun get together with the Quilt Pattern Designers FB group (thank you Carolina!) downtown Phoenix at a cool bar/restaurant

Work is done for the day and it’s time to SeW!! Today I’m working on a couple projects for a fabric company. I really need to longarm but my hip has been acting up & I can’t stand very long at one time. Getting old stinks! lol

This week I’m meeting a girlfriend in Greensboro NC for several days. I’m taking a 30 shirts for a custom order tshirt quilt. I can sit & iron on (instead of standing) the interfacing to the shirt backs. Excited to be with my dear friend Rose.

I was getting bored with the limited thread colors and pantograph designs I’ve been using so I treated myself to an order from Hab+Dash and Urban Elementz. So many choices are available from both but I had to limit myself a little bit. 😎 Can’t wait to longarm the 11 quilts in my stash!

Have you thought about designing and writing your own quilt patterns? If you have, now's the time to sign up for the Quilt Pattern Writing Course (QPWC) 2024 with Elizabeth Chappell of Quilters Candy. Doors open today, Monday Sept 9 and are only open for 6 days.

Maybe you have design ideas but struggle with writing the actual pattern. It can be intimidating to put your patterns out there and hope for the success you dream of.

Our friend Elizabeth, of Quilters Candy, has just opened her Quilt Pattern Writing Course. In this course, she teaches, step by step, how to write and sell quilt patterns successfully.
The Quilt Pattern Writing Course is the most comprehensive course of its kind. It covers:

Finding your niche.
Marketing your patterns.
Building your brand.
Creating professional, easy-to-read patterns using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign (the industry standard for publishing).
Guest experts covering topics like legal aspects, quilt math, pattern testers, and more!
Launching – A step-by-step timeline for a successful pattern release.

This course only opens for registration once a year, and it’s open for just 6 days! If you’ve ever dreamed of writing and selling your own quilt patterns, now’s the time to act. Registration is open beginning Sept 9.

QPWC is how Lisa and Christina met! Back in 2022, we both took the course and learned so much (and connected with so many people in the quilting community). Then in 2023, Elizabeth revamped the course and included several weeks of learning to use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign software. This alone was worth taking the course! The course is the foundation of starting our business of ghostwriting and tech editing full time for individual designers and fabric companies. Taking the course was the best decision ever!

We will personally be offering a 30-45 minute coaching call to someone who signs up with our affiliate link (random drawing). We will answer your questions and become your biggest supporter.

Sign up today before time runs out!

decided to take a play day! Finished longarming a quilt for a friend & decided to load this one for my hubby (he’s a private pilot). We love vintage aircraft in our house so the fabric is perfect. When I asked him which pantograph he wanted me to use, he chose the airplanes (definitely skill building) over the super easy clouds. Since I’m still adjusting to my machine, I’ll chalk it up to a learning quilt since it’s ours. lol. Thanks honey. 😎🥰

If you know me & my hubby, you’ll know aviation is a big part of our lives. It’s mostly how we met, what I used to do for a hobby (helped produce an airshow in IL), what he does for fun (private pilot) , & what we do on our trips (aviation museums or anything airplanes). So when I saw this fabric by I knew I had to have it!! I altered the pattern a bit to make it bigger since hubby is 6’3”. He has proclaimed it a keeper!
