Nice day to be in the shop. Working on a dachshund puzzle. I start with the hand drawn pattern, apply it to a poplar board, I always cut the outline first, then any of the interior cuts I drill a small pilot hole on the drill press. Next is feeding the 0.031” (very small) scroll saw blade through each of those holes and cutting that piece out, next is cutting the individual letters. Once it is all cut out I blow off and saw dust then submerge the puzzle in mineral oil for about 5 minutes. The puzzle is then placed on a drying rack for 2 days. The last step is to put it a shrink wrap bag.

The very first animal puzzle I ever cut was a Poodle, 8 years ago in 2017, Since then I have cut hundreds of puzzles and leash holders.

Last week another Poodle puzzle when out in the mail.
