A sharp 90-degree corner on a granite slab is basically a stress point. We often see these edges chip after a heavy pot slides or a vacuum hits the corner, leaving a jagged white void in the stone. Softening that edge into a slight radius changes how the material absorbs impact.
Observation notes:
➡️ High-traffic kitchen zones show more edge wear
➡️ Sharp corners are prone to micro-fracturing
➡️ A subtle radius distributes force better
➡️ Texture feels smoother during daily cleaning
The stone behaves differently when the edge is eased. In and around Salt Lake City, we notice that slabs with a softened profile hold up better against the physical knocks of a busy household. It is a structural choice, not just a look.
