We have had the privilege this past week of educating a client on the importance of addressing unseen details. Observe the gap between the stud and my straight edge, where the 2 x 4 stud required correction due to a bow. If issues such as bowed studs or uneven surfaces are present behind your shower wall, they can result in lippage and uneven tile edges. It’s the things you can’t see that makes such an important difference in the outcome. From the construction of the wall, to the waterproofing to the installation, our guiding principle, instilled by our heritage, is that if a task is worth undertaking, it is worth doing correctly. We successfully removed the existing shower, which was leaking from the pan, and subsequently built a striking vertical shower feature. The selected tile is Jargon, a semi-polished porcelain 12 x 24 format. Prior to tile installation, we ensured the shower's durability by applying the Schluter Shower System, a crucial component in preventing water damage. 10 years ago we installed this gorgeous oak-look vinyl plank for Don & Glenda Johnson—and it still looks fantastic! 😍
Then a slow freezer leak caused hidden water damage. We ripped out the old flooring, cut out the rotten underlayment, decking & subfloor, and replaced it all with matching planks we wisely kept from the original order 10 years ago.
Floors are back to looking brand new! Thank you Don & Glenda for trusting us again. 🙌
Pro tip: Watch for slow appliance leaks—they can do serious damage before you notice!
