Yesterday marked one year since we closed the doors to Love Child’s daily retail operations. Somehow, it feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time. (Swipe to slide 2 to see me absolutely fighting for my life as customers came in to say “goodbye” that day 😅.)

A LOT has happened since then. It has been one of the more challenging years of my adult life, personally and professionally, and I’m still figuring out what comes next.

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. And in the current small-business landscape, especially here in Boston, keeping a business going is harder than ever. I’m incredibly proud of what we built and excited to see how Love Child continues to evolve. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the heartache I’ve experienced along the way, or how much life outside of our work inevitably affects it. Sometimes life is just really hard, and you need to step back, recalibrate and give yourself some room to figure out what comes next.

One year later, I finally wrote about my experience post-364 West Broadway. It’s not a comeback story or a “here are the five lessons I learned” post. Just an honest reflection on grief, failure, health, time, empathy, and trying to figure out what comes next.

There is nothing I love more than good food and some live music. On Friday, we actually left Southie (😉) and headed to Lou's Harvard Square in Harvard Square to celebrate their first birthday.

The space is absolutely gorgeous and feels like you’ve stumbled into a chic undercover jazz club that serves delicious food.

Lou’s is open seven days a week for dinner, plus brunch Friday through Sunday. If you love live music and a cool ambiance, definitely add this to your list!

Thanks for having us, Lou’s! We can’t wait to come back.

Transitions and reflections always go hand in hand for me. Something I don’t talk about very often on here is that I worked as an SLP for 8+ years at Perkins School for the Blind, and a few more in private practice before/while taking the leap into full-time entrepreneurship.

Every stage has taught me something, but my time as an SLP at Perkins really influenced who I am, both professionally and personally.

Your first job teaches you more than you think… and it ends up shaping so much of what comes next. I hold that chapter near and dear to my heart and it will always be a huge part of who I am. 🫶🏼💐
