Coit Tower, Telegraph Hill, and one very small flag.

Urban sketching allows one to stop and deeply observe their surroundings, capturing the feeling of a small moment. It's the opposite of a perfect photo. You sit somewhere for an hour with a pen and a small box of paint, and what you take home is a record of paying attention - light, shadow, space, colors, wind, weather - ambiance. It encourages you to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the moment.

Using a dip pen first, then watercolor on top, means every sketch line stays visible. It captures the energy and feeling of the moment, based on the pressure of the line, and the shifting of light and shadow. An image of what it feels like to remember.

These energetic Crocosmia offer a lively pop of color - layered New Gamboge and Alizarin Crimson Winsor & Newton Watercolor Paints. Long Sap Green leaves softly bend, offering gentle movement. The white background and frame help to keep the painting the focal point without overwhelming the room.

Peach, Sliced is available as a tutorial on Substack. Opening up the fruit allows for the red stone and the flesh to show the life inside the peach. Layering the reds and yellows creates a lovely glow to keep the peach fresh and lively. Adding color into shadows helps unify a painting and give energy to the shadows too.

Cozy, friendly, happy ghosts. That was the inspiration for this sweet Halloween greeting card set. đŸ‘»

A ghost holding a sleeping cat. A ghost hugging a rainbow. A ghost thrilled about a pile of pumpkins.

These are for sending in early October just because, to a kid, a neighbor, a friend who loves the season. Blank inside, so you decide what they say.

Yes, another summer peach. I happily re-paint subject matters all the time. It gives me the opportunity to really see and absorb all the nuances in a subject. I become more proficient at capturing the subject. Also, just by changing a few things it becomes a completely different painting. This peach is sliced. Opening up the fruit allows for the red stone and the flesh to show the life inside the peach.

Figs, a piece from my new Small Moments . . . Noted 2026 Collection.

Small works are my best sellers in both prints and originals. They are approachable in many ways - size, cost, gifting, displaying, and shipping. This size is popular for both seasoned collectors and those new to buying original art.

A small piece fits a house, a small cafe, or a cozy restaurant. It goes on a narrow wall. It leans on a shelf next to cookbooks. You don't have to rearrange a room to make space for it. You can also change it out quickly and easily for a seasonal swap. Small pieces allow for accessible art collecting for all people, and for gifting. It's a low risk approach to bring something handmade and original into the home.

I love to get lost in the slow layering of watercolor paint to build depth and luminosity. It's magical to watch the figs come to life in full form, color by color. I purposefully chose figs with two slightly different colorings. The left fig is layered with the warm golden yellow of New Gamboge, rich Alizarin Crimson, and a touch of deep Ultramarine Blue. The fig on the right is cooler. While using the same colors, I adjust the amount to a very light tint of New Gamboge, a hint of Alizarin Crimson, and much more intense use of Ultramarine Blue to create a cooler blue-purple fig.

Every print in my shop started somewhere unglamorous, like this messy summer sketchbook.

As feeds fill up with "art" no human ever touched, the thing people actually treasure is the opposite, something made slowly, by hand, on purpose. Every card and print I sell began as a real painting on real paper. Sketched, second-guessed, and fixed until it worked.

If someone in your life has a birthday, a hard season, or a fresh start coming up, a handmade piece says something a gift card can't.

Meet the Mustard Lady. Saturated, characterful portraits capture attention, bringing life to the art. Art that has a personality instead of just matching the couch. The composition is built almost entirely out of Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolor Sap Green and Lemon Yellow, one of 2026's signature earthy-but-bold palettes, with just enough Alizarin Crimson detail to let her attitude come through.

If your space needs a little more joy and a lot less neutral, she's your girl.
