We came for Venezuelan comfort food and left very, very full. đ
The food was the star for us. The tequeños were cooked perfectly, crisp outside and melty inside. The arepas were generous, loaded, and honestly hard to choose from because there are so many options.
The mixed sancocho was probably the most comforting thing we had. It tasted homemade, hearty, and exactly right for a rainy Chicago day.
And then⊠salchipapas. No guilt accepted. đ
We also loved the atmosphere. Itâs colorful, loud, fun, and full of personality. It definitely feels like more than just grabbing a quick meal.
The only thing that didnât quite match the rest of the experience was the service. It felt less warm than what we usually associate with Venezuelan hospitality, especially with my husband being from Caracas and us having eaten at plenty of Venezuelan spots over the years.
That said, the portions were generous, the quality was great, and the value was absolutely there.
Too bad we donât live nearby anymore because this one is a đŻ keeper.
Next time: hot dogs, cachapas, and at least a few more of those 20+ arepas.
