The shop is open - after a much needed break😊
Over the break, which was 2 full months, I reflected on my life, I examined my priorities, and I thought a lot about the future and what I envisioned for the next 10 or so years. I thought about my kids, all three married as of this May, and about my dad and my in-laws who live with us. I calculated the time I was spending in the studio, working on the business, and making sure we were successful. The shop was very successful, more so than we ever expected…which meant more time in the studio, more time focused on the business.
In mid-September last year I lost one of my cats, in late October I lost one of my dogs. Those two months are the busiest of the year at the shop and I found myself trying to balance something that was not ever going to balance. It changed how I looked at my life. As I type this now, my beloved Winnifred (dog) is next to me, dying of dilated cardiomyopathy - more change coming soon, but having slowed everything down, I can be with her and will regret nothing, this time.
My period of reflection led me to the conclusion that I need to close the shop. I need to reclaim more control over my life. I need to write the next chapters of my life rather than have life write them about me.
I will miss having the shop and our neighbors there - Educated Otter and Foxfire. The location was perfect for us - great foot traffic, great customers, fantastic landlord.
We plan to keep the shop open until some time in April, date will be posted soon.
Lastly, this is a picture of the cutest dog in the entire world (except, of course, yours). She is she latest addition to our family❤
