Had my first accident with the lye today. Not real horrid in over twenty years of soap making. The water container that I usually use to mix my lye with my water is mia so I used a different one. Not such a great idea as it turned out. The container wasn't large enough to contain the reaction between the lye and water and it rather burst from the container with a great deal of anger. Thank goodness for vinegar. I have a slight chemical burn where I got splashed and my wonderful son is using vinegar and water to clean up the overflow .

That all being said, once he gets it all cleaned up, I will remeasure the fluid into a larger container and by this evening I should have at least one if not two batches of soaps getting ready to be cut into bars. woohoo I'm doing these first few batches the hot process way so that I will have plenty of soaps ready to go by the time the farmer's markets and such are starting up for the year.

Soon as it is warm enough for me to sit outside, I will be getting out my wheel and spinning up some yarn. Looking good.. :)

We have over a hundred likers now!! woohooo.. !! I have fiber now too.. from two sources.. a friend gave me some fiber to play with and I finally got the fiber that I ordered through the mail.. Yay!! Loving it.. :D

I got my fiber!!! Yeah.. finally!! It was supposed to be delivered on the 10th.. well it got here today!! Totally not the shipper's fault.. I guess when we said go ahead and snail mail it.. that's what they actually used.. lol Don't look for me.. I'll be spinning or making hats.. *big and cheesy* hehe

Ok.. things done for the day. Wrote a little over 3000 words for my novel. I still need to work on fleshing out the scenes. I've decided I need a little more practice with describing the environment my characters end up in..

Also finished the single ply of the variegated yarn that I've been playing with, then took some of it and plied it with the rest of the brown single ply that I had and plied the rest of it with white. Tomorrow I will finish that up. I went grocery shopping this morning. Never go shopping hungry. Finally was able to stock my shelves again.

Taking a small break from my spinning this week. I have a few more pictures of my latest yarns to share. I plan to start working on items, so hang tight, still plugging away. :) However, what I am really doing right now is writing. I have discovered and accepted the challenge of "National Novel Writing Month". Basically you write a novel in 30 days. Well everyone keeps telling me that I have stories to tell.. lol so I'm doing it. I am right on target with where I should be to make 50,000 words by the end of November.. keep your fingers crossed that I make it. Might even be brave enough to try to get published once it is polished up enough. Don't hold me to that though.. lol

Still spinning as much as I can. I have been hurting quite a bit so the spinning hasn't been going as quickly as I'd hoped. I'm hating that and have been beating myself up some for it.. I've decided to stop that and just do what I can do.. the rest will just have to wait. This is why I had decided to not try to reopen my business full time until after I've had the time to build me a nice back log of stock to sell. Stress and anxiety just make the pain worse so why do that to myself, ya know. I do have soap ready to remill.. That I can do in an afternoon, so if you have anything in mind that you would like, let me know so that I can whip some up for you. I am looking forward to the first of the month so that I can get the rest of the parts I need to rebuild my tri-loom. Eventually I hope to have enough money gathered to buy some nice size blocks (lbs and lbs) of wool. I want to learn a few dying techniques and really work on my art yarns. So much to do and what do I do.. I sign up to write a novel next month. 50K of words minimum.. Wish me luck.. I'm already sweating bullets over it.. I've never tried to do this before.. but it's time to get serious.. either I want to put down my stories.. or I don't.. Now is the time to find out for sure or just let it drop and be done with it.
