The spring after my father Les Turner passed away I planted a peach tree as a small token of memory. This year for the first time it fruited!! A LOT! So much so that we had to pick the fruit off of all the lower branches prematurely as the tree was leaning over almost sideways!
Now the only ones remaining are out of reach, but I wrestled a couple down and braved a nibble.
They were fuzzy but yummy!

Friday by chance or appointment.

As requested, We will be open again this weekend for potted daylily sales! (No digging this year, sorry)

We still have a good selection of known varieties but an even larger selection of ‘mystery lilies’ due to the chickens pulling out tags last fall. 😤🤬

These are still healthy and not your typical varieties and at a clearance price of $10 per pot… you cant go wrong!!

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ONLY

We will be open this coming weekend from 10-5:00 Saturday and Sunday ONLY.

We will not be digging this year but we have a large number of healthy lilies already potted up and ready to go! Pots are all specially sale priced at $10 and Cash is always preferred.

This weekend and the following may be the only weekends we will have open hours however I encourage folks who would like to purchase lillies to leave me a message and a possible day/time and I will do my best to meet up with you!

We hope to see many familiar faces this weekend!

Please remember that we have rescue and foster Great Danes loose in the gardens. They are big and clumsy and may be shy or loud, but all are friendly. If you are at all uncomfortable with big dogs, please just remain in your car for a moment and we will happily bring them safely into the house.
Either way, for training purposes, we will meet you at your car and introduce you to the

Shout out to my friends and family who have come together to help me help these dogs. You know I don't ask often. This boy needs more than our new norther chapter rescue can afford yet, but we couldn't leave him in such misery!

Please look at this poor guys eyes... can you help him, please?

A family member contacted Northern Chapter GDRNE for help with a big sweet boy whose unknown allergies and various illnesses had become too much for his elderly yet well meaning humans.

Despite consistent vet visits, attempted surgeries on his eyes - the lack of diagnosis, funds, and an easily followable medical treatment, poor Samson's quality of life was slipping away.

Samson was surrendered to us with all of his vet records to help in tracking down the cause. He is now being treated for his open wounds that developed on his paper thin skin from an unknown bacterial and/or fungal infection(s). He is severely underweight from these issues, because of the lack of appetite caused by the steroids and other attempted medications.

We need the Dane Communities help!!! Samson is only 2.5 year old, neutered, Chocolate Harlequin Male who has only ever given love to the world, his body is betraying him and he needs our support. We need to diagnose his allergies and work to re-address his poor eyes and the chronic pain caused by them.

We are hopeful through our access to Mt. Mansfield Animal Hospital that we will be able to narrow down what is making Samson so sick and get him healthy, happy and placed in his forever home!

UPDATE; Angus was found safely!

Lost tortoise! Missing on Tash Road in New Durham, near the Route 11 end.
Angus finally made a successful escape from his outdoor habitat on Tuesday, May 23. We have been searching high and low, with no sign of him. He is a Russian tortoise, and his species is native to the deserts of the Middle East....he will not survive outside during a New Hampshire winter. He is NOT a water turtle, and will not enter a body of water on his own. He is fairly small (about 6 inched nose to tail), and is well camouflaged in several shades of brown.

Please keep an eye out for him. He is missed. Please bring him to Merrymeeting Daylilies if you find him, or IM me and I will come get him! Thank You!

Merrymeeting Daylilies and Danes; what's the deal?

Many of you are familiar with the ever changing array of Great Danes that lounge around the gardens, getting pets and sitting in laps. However new folks may wonder what up with this?? Well, we work with Great Dane Rescue of New England as a foster and rescue home. Primarily you will meet seniors or dogs surrendered for chronic illness or hospice. We love our 'older models' and they love living out their years 'on the farm'

This past winter we unexpectedly lost our most beloved Lacey at 8 yrs old, and shortly after that, our dear old gentleman grump Scout followed her. Our home felt empty except for the ever growing presence and energy if our newest addition (and pattern clone of Ms Lacey) little Ollie! He is keeping poor old Dozer occupied until new surrenders/fosters arrive to fill the empty spaces on the couch and in the gardens.

So when the flood waters recede, and your arrival stirs friendly giants from the flowers, feel confident that they just want to get the first pats, and are not jumpers. The cookie dispenser in the front driveway means you will always be prepared to make a new friend for life!
