Incredibly humbled to be invited as 1 of the women veteran artists to participate in the Wounded Not Worthless exhibit opening today in St. Charles, IL.
I've been eyeing this gallery for awhile. So when my friend and fellow veteran Christina Helferich-Polosky messaged and asked if I would participate, my answer was absolutely!
During my artist talk last month , I spoke about the reason as to why when I'm turned inward and more self reflective, I tend to close the eyes on my artwork. Until recently I never realized why I did that nor was I fully aware that I was doing that. I thought I was "just creating". But I realized that when I don't want to be seen as vulnerable or I'm "shutting people out", my pieces tend to have their eyes closed and the figures are usually submerged in water. Sound is muffled or muted in water, the water in my artwork is meant to represent, me muting the world and all of the unnecessary sound.

Latest restock at the shop is officially up and I'm loving all the color! There are so many days where I look around and think, how did I get here?! This wasn't in the plan!
Nevertheless I'm thankful for the creative outlet. Graphic designing started out of a need to create on days where my hands were too swollen to paint or draw. If someone told me 4 years ago that the bags would be the biggest seller and the hardest for me to keep in stock, I'd of told them to quit dreaming. (Sometimes I love being wrong)
The beautiful thing about being a creative is that you are only limited by your imagination. My mom found this out when she was helping me pack for my move. I can't tell you how many things she picked up that I had drawn on, paint, cut, folded, molded, shaped...and she would ask if it was a piece to an artwork before deciding which box it went into lol.
If you're in the Hagerstown area, stop in The Foundry on N Potomac St and see the newbies to my collection. There is so much to see not only from me but also all of the other small business owners!
Thank you for all the support always my peoples! The love is real and endless.
