We’re excited to share a few final photos from our recent work at St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie!
This campus-wide project included a new three-story Parish Center, a new columbarium, and site improvements including a new parking area. Each element was thoughtfully designed to enhance the campus and support the many ways it serves the St. Catherine community.
We’re proud to have been part of this project and to see these spaces come to life.

No names. No labels. Just floor plans. 🧐📐

We challenged our partners to see if they could recognize iconic architecture from the plans alone…

Let’s just say, architecture school might not have prepared us for this level of pressure😆

We have been thinking about our trajectory as a firm and focusing on our vision for the future—taking stock of the key attributes that have shaped our practice, our culture, and the way we support great work with great clients.
Mathes Brierre Architects has been in continual practice since 1891. Why and how? People and commitment.
For more than a century, our practice has evolved alongside the city, responding to changing ideas, technologies, environments, and ways of living. Looking toward the rest of the 21st century, we are embracing that evolution by celebrating and growing our three disciplines of practice: Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture.
Working across these three scales is fundamental to how we understand the world and our impact on it. At every scale, we believe in a three-way partnership between our clients, the environment, and built materials.
Three is a recurring idea in our practice:
3 centuries of work.
3 disciplines of practice.
3 partners in progress.
It represents balance, connection, and the dialogue between the forces that shape great places.
Today, we introduce the new Mathes Brierre Architects—a renewed expression of who we are, where we have come from, and where we are going.
A new logo mark with meaning.

A play yard designed with possibility in mind. 🌱🌷

Our landscape architecture studio reimagined the outdoor environment at Audubon Charter School in Uptown New Orleans, transforming damaged and underused areas into flexible spaces for play, sports, gathering, and exploration.

From a new soccer field and multi-use court to play equipment and a deck woven around an existing tree in the Peace Garden, every element was designed to evolve with the students who use it, shoutout to our amazing Landscape Architecture studio👏🏼

One last test before we go… can the interns guess the floorplan? 👀📐

Turns out, we were paying attention all summer — 100% correct!

Wrapping up a great summer with our intern crew. Thanks for having us! 🤍

The Chloe | New Orleans, LA

A historic 19th-century mansion reimagined as a boutique hotel, restaurant, and bar—where the character of the past meets a distinctly modern style.

The Chloe features 14 private guest rooms across the upper floors, while the first level welcomes the public with a restaurant, bar, and garden terrace. The renovation also transformed the rear accessory building into a dedicated hotel restaurant and introduced a reconfigured guest check-in, parlor and bar, new courtyard, and beautiful pool and patio area.

This project was coordinated with Sara Ruffin Costello, designer and decorator.
