Our principal, Margaret Sullivan, was recently honored with the CORE Presidential Citation at the American Library Association's CORE & John Cotton Dana Awards Ceremony.
For over 25 years, our Founder and Principal, Margaret, has contributed to the American Library Association’s CORE division. The Core Presidential Citation honors her longtime commitment to advancing the library field by organizing conference tours, building participatory workshops, facilitating design discussion groups, and most critically, connecting our industry to experts we continue to learn from. This award especially celebrates Margaret's work as a vital connector and thought leader in public library design with a focus on social justice, racial equity, and human-centric design. Her generosity, her vision, and her enduring commitment to the industry have been constants throughout her career.
MSS was honored to be recognized alongside her peers: Joe Agati, Lindsay Cronk, Deborah Ehrman, Traci Lesneski, and Julie Reese. Most importantly, we are honored to represent our community of library professionals to whom we owe this award!
We celebrated with clients, peers, colleagues, and family, all of whom woke up at the crack of dawn! These included Amy Eshleman, Nikki Winslow, Cordelia Anderson, Justine Flora, and John Cotton Award winners from the San Francisco Public Library: City Librarian Michael Lambert, Michelle Jeffers, Jamie Wong, and Kitsap Public Library Director Jason Driver.
Special thanks to Wendy Tressler for the nomination, and Melanie Huggins for the 30-year-long dialogue that levels the industry and us up! Melanie, we know you couldn't be there in person, but the doughnuts you had delivered made Margaret the most popular person at the Conference!
