🧀 Slow Cooker Beef & Potato Au Gratin
Tender sliced potatoes layered with seasoned ground beef and plenty of melted cheddar in a creamy sauce. This easy slow-cooker comfort meal is hearty, cheesy, and perfect for a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
* 1½ lb (680 g) ground beef
* 2½ lb (1.1 kg) Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
* 1 can (10.5 oz / 298 g) cream of mushroom soup
* 2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain any excess grease.
2. Lightly grease the slow cooker.
3. Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes on the bottom.
4. Add a layer of cooked ground beef and sprinkle with some of the cheddar cheese.
5. Repeat the layers until all the potatoes and beef have been used, finishing with cheese.
6. Spread the cream of mushroom soup evenly over the top. If the soup is very thick, stir in ¼ cup of water to make it easier to spread.
7. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours, or until the potatoes are tender.
8. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top during the final 20–30 minutes of cooking.
9. Cover again and cook until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
10. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
