Art installation and final furnishings delivery wrapped up my Carroll Gardens project. I brought in professional art handlers to mount paintings, mirror, wall fixtures. The guys were amazing!

A few punch list items to take care of for my nice clients, and then it will be complete.

VIP Showrooms Day excursion — with my Lincoln Square client. This was an “abridged” shorter day, but we still made it to 8 showrooms in 4 hours!

My client got to see and feel Scandinavian modern seating, contemporary glass lighting, Italian vintage design, New Zealand rugs, English custom millwork.

Then I used our visit as my inspiration for the design scheme I’m preparing for them.

Take away the whimsical chinoiserie footstool, and the design starts to fall flat.

I’m excited about a new project in a beautiful high rise, right around the corner from Lincoln Center.

It’s a pied-a-terre for an L.A.-based client who will share the space with his bi-coastal adult children.

The views out to Central Park and Upper Manhattan are incredible — it’s like an urban treehouse. Two terraces flank a Mid Century style space, with teak paneling wrapping the perimeter.

We’re replacing flooring to unify the dark cherry wood, swapping hardware to match throughout the combo unit, updating the kitchen backsplash, and doing full furnishings throughout.

The word “turnkey” gets thrown out a lot in the interior design industry. But what does that actually mean?

To me, turnkey service is crafting a seamless experience where my trusted providers and I handle all the back-end logistics.

It means sparing my clients the hassle of managing the many moving parts of a design project.

So, I decided to share what a turnkey, luxury project looks like for my typical full service interior design clients.

Balancing scale of heights is important.

In this living room, I created a stepped vertical progression, starting from the tall tower bookshelf, then down to the framed art, then to the reading lamp, and finally to the back of the Safari chair.

Then it moves back up again, toward the Roman window shades.

This makes the eye travel through the room with visual comfort.

Carroll Gardens project is wrapping up. Construction began on the UES pied-a-terre. My Uptown foyer clients have added living room into their scope. And I have a big new project at a Lincoln Square high rise!

Art selections for the UES pied-a-terre:

1) floral still life which was originally on the cover of House & Garden magazine in 1937

2) English nature abstract from 1965

3) Belgian 20th Century modernist scene

4) Swedish waterfront landscape from the 1920s

Believe it or not, the furnishings scope of my UES pied-a-terre project will be a surprise reveal for the client!

We collaborated on the design vision and scope. The client approved a 2-D floor plan, aesthetic direction, and budget, but is entrusting the final decorative selections to me. (Construction scope is fully line-item approved, in contrast.)

This process allows me to move quickly, so I can source more creatively and secure antiques and one-of-a-kind items without preparing presentations of official proposals and obtaining formal approvals.

This “reveal” option isn’t for everyone. I’m honored my client believes in me, and I’m working hard to do right by her trust. But I gotta say — it’s going to be super chic… Wait till you see it ;)
