You may remember me sharing this townhouse a little while ago… but this time, I’m taking you INSIDE. 🤍

The Barbara Jakobson Townhouse at 167 East 74th Street is one of those New York homes where the architecture, history and personality of the previous owner are still so palpable.

This 6,400+ sq. ft. Upper East Side townhouse has **8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms**, with a spectacular double-height living room, private garden and that beautiful curved staircase leading up toward the mezzanine.

And I couldn’t resist showing you some of the details I’m drawn to as a designer — including the intimate private garden, stunning entryway, and the painted brick and all the texture and character it brings to the space.

This is Part One — the garden, main living spaces and mezzanine.

I’ve been obsessed with this interior forever.🤍

So walking through the red doors of the Barbara Jakobson Townhouse at 167 East 74th Street and experiencing the spaces in person was pretty incredible.
There is something very different about seeing a house like this in photographs versus actually standing inside it. The scale, the double-height living room, the light, the garden, the layers of art and design — you can feel that this was a home that was truly lived in and loved.

Barbara Jakobson lived here for nearly six decades, and her home became an intimate meeting place for artists, collectors, writers and creatives. It’s that combination of architecture + history + a very personal point of view that makes this townhouse so compelling to me as a designer and real estate advisor.

And now I can’t help thinking about the next chapter.

If you could imagine hosting your life here — dinners that go late, art on the walls, family around the table, friends spilling into the garden — what would you do with it?

That’s the part I love about design-led real estate: not just seeing a beautiful property, but beginning to imagine your life inside it.

Welcome to The Osborne, one of New York City’s most iconic residential buildings. Completed in 1885, it was one of Manhattan’s earliest luxury apartment houses and helped establish apartment living as a desirable option for affluent New Yorkers.

In an effort to help potential buyers experience the space and understand its full potential, I’ve developed floor plans, layout options, and renderings that explore different ways the apartment could live and function. These visuals help bring ideas to life and allow us to test possibilities before any staging takes place.

That said, some homes simply need to be experienced in person. The scale, architectural details, natural light, and incredible character of The Osborne are difficult to capture through photos and renderings alone.
