Legacy.
A couple nights ago, my 11 year old son Noah and I were talking about him making the middle school basketball team & how basketball might be in his future & how much he loves it & then if you know Noah, this led to many other rabbit trails of conversation. He’s a talker. He gets it honestly. 🐇😊
He has said something to this effect before, but in this conversation he said, “Mom, I wanna do what you and Dad both do. I want to sketch buildings and do Simple Space stuff & preach the Word of God.”
Now, I realize this pales in comparison, but we have been watching The Chosen as a family, and deep to my gut is every. single. scene with Mary, Jesus’ mother. I mean, just roll me up in a box of Kleenex and call it a day cuz I’m done. Watching her love, ache, trust, weep, then hold, comfort, mother the grown man of Jesus as he ministers and gives and pours out everything. My word, I’m grateful for Jesus, but to see Mary personified and relate to mothering a son, sheesh. Just rip my heart out.
I know I’m a bit all over the map here, but I never would have imagined in a million years that what I started here almost 4 years ago would be part of my LEGACY. These faces in these pictures, they are part of the legacy left for me - my Davis & Cook family lines. And then the Martin & Mayberry line for my husband. The ones who left a legacy for our great grandparents & grandparents & parents & now me leading my own son.
Who knows how many times Noah will change his future work choices (probably a few times if I know him lol) but I’m grateful for a chance to leave a legacy in his heart, no matter how big or small, and then get to be the mother who sits back and watches, listens, grieves & comforts. It gave me such deep joy + reminded me of my responsibility in showing Noah how to work & use my hands. This isn’t a perfection game for me, this is a legacy of hard work, love & simplicity.
All to the glory of God, and all for His name.
