The powder room — the one place where I believe we really shouldn’t be afraid to go bold.

It’s one of my favorite spaces to design because it gives you the freedom to experiment. Unexpected material combinations, statement finishes, bold colors, interesting textures — this is where I don’t want to play it safe.

A powder room is small, but that doesn’t mean the design should be quiet. If anything, I think it’s the perfect place to create a little moment of surprise and give the interior its own personality.

For this one, I wanted every material to bring something different while still feeling intentional together.

Construction drawings might be one of the simplest drawings in the technical package — but they’re also one of the most important.

This is where the contractor starts.

Demolitions. New walls. Partition walls. Plasterboard constructions. Niches. Built-ins. Dropped ceilings. Any structural or construction change connected to the “dirty work” stage needs to be clearly marked here.

And remember: more information doesn’t automatically mean a better drawing.

Technical drawings are made for contractors, not for designers. The goal is to make them clear, readable and impossible to misinterpret.

Even if your project has no walls to demolish or build, this drawing is still relevant. Use it to show any new partitions, plasterboard structures, niches, boxed-out elements or other construction work that needs to happen before the finishes go in.

The rule I always follow: show everything they need to build — and nothing that creates unnecessary noise.

I believe we all understand certain things in our own time. Some truths only become clear after we have lived through them ourselves.

But we can also learn from people who are willing to share the whole story—not only their success, but also their mistakes, doubts and regrets.

We get to choose whose wisdom we listen to.

And sometimes, another person’s honesty can help us question the life we are building before life forces us to.

Maybe that is one of the most meaningful reasons to share our stories.

One of the biggest lessons you’ll never learn at design school?

That great interior design isn’t about following rules. It’s about understanding people.

Design school teaches you principles, proportions, ergonomics, and technical foundations. They’re essential. But they’re only the starting point.

The real skill comes from working with dozens of different clients and realizing that no two people live the same way.

Every client has different habits, priorities, routines, personalities, and dreams. That’s why there is no universal formula for great design.

Premium designers don’t design for “the average person.”

They design like a tailor creating a custom suit—carefully adapting every decision to the person who will actually live in the space.

The best design isn’t the one that follows every rule perfectly.

It’s the one that makes someone’s everyday life easier, more functional, and more enjoyable.

Because at the end of the day, that’s our job as designers—not to create beautiful rooms, but to create better lives.
