We are considering front loaders in our very small laundry room. The question is:

1. No pedestals - room to add countertop above, but hose box will remain exposed and we will need to bend over to do laundry.

2. Add 16” pedestals - top of units will fall just below the cabinets, no countertop, hose box will be covered, less bending over.

I picked up this vintage vanity for my daughter for FREE and I’m seeing now why. We’ve washed it with vinegar and dawn soap and then polished it with furniture polish and still the smoke smell is so strong. Is there a way to get the smoker smell out? Otherwise I guess I’ll donate to someone who doesn’t care.
My daughter was really wanting something vintage but I guess that’s a risky move especially on a budget. Thank you 😊 and yes it’s been sitting on my porch for about 5 days.

Hey yall! Please help me make this blank entry way space feel warm, modern farmhouse chic .. I don’t even know how to describe my style… lol It’s by the front door in a big open concept area living room and it too small to fit plants beside, not sure about pics above it or mirror? **Fixing orange oak… without painting!**

For those of you who have successfully toned down your "orange" oak cabinets, what did you do?

I do **not** want to paint them, so please don't suggest that. 😊 I love the look of wood and want to keep that natural character—I just want to get rid of the orange tones.

I'm really hoping to avoid sanding them down if possible. Our new flooring has a mix of lighter and darker wood tones, so I'm open to either direction.

**Bonus points for the fastest and least labor-intensive process!** 😂 I have a 4-month-old and a 2.5-year-old, which means I have very little free time and even less patience. 😅

Would love to see photos of what worked for you and hear any product recommendations!

Hoping someone has tips on keeping little bits of debris and maybe droppings from falling through shiplap in bedrooms onto beds. We've treated for both rodents and roaches/insects, but can't say for certain we've stopped up all access. The attic space above this ceiling is a finished-out attic, so unfortunately, there's no access. Silicone caulk? Steel wool and then black felt? Are we the only ones who have experienced this? Shiplap is so charming, but maybe not so practical? 😬

Ripped up 4 layers of flooring to find 109 yr old maple with a surprise - a large rectangle of concrete where a big old coal stove must have sat before the doorway was cut in.lemons to lemonade - with a gorgeous one of a kind paint job! So much more interesting than jackhammering it out and putting in new wood!
