Life has truly changed for my family and me lately…

I went from breastfeeding my daughter to feeding her through a tube. It’s hard to believe sometimes. This is a big change for both of us, and navigating life in this new season has its challenges. I’m learning to use the tools I’ve been given and to give us all grace, because this is new for every one of us.

I never thought this would be the outcome of Malia’s treatment, or that we would still have so many questions. I thought life would go back to the way I knew it.

But life is different now. It’s new, and I’m learning. She’s learning. Our whole family is learning how to live in this chapter of our lives.

I used to say my world had been turned upside down. Now I’m learning to trust that God has a plan for us. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I know who will carry us through today. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🥹🥹🥹

Caregiving is NOT for the weakkkkk!!! 😩🫂

God chose us to take on these battles, but I want to remind all my caregivers: please get your rest whenever you can.

I know we can get so caught up in the task at hand and thinking about everything that was left undone while we were away but getting rest is NOT selfish.

I slept on a recliner for five weeks, and baaaaby…my body is hurting! Even my eyelids are still recovering! 😭😂

My house is a BIG mess, and guess what? I am not rushing to clean it. I asked my husband to bring me something to eat, took some Tylenol, made sure Malia was good, and went right back to bed!

I apologize in advance to everyone who has called or messaged me. I promise I will return your calls. This mama just needs some rest right now. My body needs time to recover and rejuvenate.

Caregivers, listen to your bodies. The house can wait. The calls can wait. The unfinished tasks can wait.

Rest is not laziness. Rest is part of the healing too. 🩷🫂

Things You Start Doing When You Stay In The Hospital To Long… 😩😩😩

🩷 Be Gentle With Your Caregiver 🩷

They’re trying their best to navigate something that, most of the time, is completely new to them.

Taking care of someone as a career is hard, but when you have to care for a family member, it’s even harder. And yes, it may be easy for others to judge:

“You chose to do this.”

“You’re over there stressing.”

“You keep saying you trust God, but you don’t look like it.”

“It sounds like you’re complaining.”

“You keep saying the same thing.”

“It’s not that hard.”

When you speak these things to us, we have to handle that blow on top of all the other blows we’ve already been taking.

Becoming a caregiver can happen to anyone. So please don’t be too quick to judge something you don’t understand. Take the time to learn what’s really going on. Gently check in on us and give us the space to show our emotions.

We need that safe space. We need grace. We’re already carrying so much. 🩷

It’s Day 29 of Malia being in the hospital and here’s the update ✍🏾
She’s off of a lot of stuff:
She had in a suction tube that helped take out a lot of stomach fluids and now that’s gone. Can we Praise God? 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
She’s off the TPN IV. Can we praise God?👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
She’s off the fat emulsions. Can we praise God? 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It’s a road we have to go down for Malia’s healing and this journey has tested my mental health in so many ways. But I, trust God & I will continue to praise Him as Job did 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Being a caregiver has its ups and downs and it will pull everything out of you. But God is pulling something out of you too. So just hold on, hold on a little bit longer.
I must say I have been through labor a couple times being in here. But I know the birthing pains is bringing purpose.
If you feel led to sow into our family we do have a GoFundMe that we use to cover our bills, food, and everyday essentials like nightgowns and products that will help Malia transition when we get home.
Thank you so much and even a prayer or share is always very much appreciated 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Today is Day 27 of my daughter being in the hospital.

It was so hard for me to ask. I always will put myself in the position to be the one giving not receiving. My pride was too big. But this has surely taught me humility. I’m not working and my husband income is barely making ends meet. Its donations that have been pouring in, that’s what helping out family and I right now. So thank you so much for every prayer, every share and every donations.

I missed being home. I came home for half an hour while Malia was having her procedure done. It felt so good to be home, but I also felt that mom guilt like, Man, my baby should be home too.🥺💕

We are getting closer to the exit! This was the last test that needed to be done, and I must say, God is revealing the answers. 🙏🏽

Stay tuned as we continue sharing our recovery story.

If you feel led to sow into Malia and our family, we have a GoFundMe that I’ll pin in my bio. Nothing is too small, and every prayer, share, and donation means more to us than you know.

May God bless you and the work of your hands for sowing into our family. 💕💕💕💕
