KELEBECKLER (2025)

Hand embroidery on linen.

Part of an ongoing series of textile works by Sean McNanney exploring folklore, ornament, memory, and transformation through the language of embroidery.

The title, Kelebeckler, takes its name from the Turkish word for butterflies.

Drawn and embroidered by hand, the work references samplers, devotional textiles, and imagined creatures suspended somewhere between dream, fable, and observation.

Framed in an antique gilt frame.
