Here's a recent before & after example of how refinishing can restore a hardwood floor. It had severe wear under the breakfast area table. I think the original finish was 30+- years old.

Here's a job we did years ago, just found the pictures. We created & installed a custom maple grid to accommodate a ceramic tile installation. The grid was jointed together, glued/blind nailed down, and finished on site. The grid openings were sized to use silicone instead of grout. The kitchen build completed a beautiful look.

Recent completion. Wish my pictures were better. This is our replacement of a 75+ year old wood floor that had come to the end of its usable life. The customer loved the old floor, so we went about to duplicate it with new wood and build technology. The wood is character grade plain sawn white oak. The material is 3/4" thick engineered build with a 6mm wear layer, making it re-finishable several times. The house has a damp basement, so we did not trust solid wood as it would have been subject to swelling, cupping, crowning, and, in the winter, shrinking. The boards are 4-8" wide and specified long, some being 11'& 12'. The project used to be two rooms. Thomas Cofran & Sons of Newark not only did the construction work, but also built, finished, and installed the custom cabinetry. Great job on their part.

Recent completion.
This is a custom made, solid American Walnut, all black no sap wood, character grade, random width, long length, hand scraped face and four sides. Black french bleed treatment with clear satin finish on top. Fit to glass block around a spiral stairway opening which has a pet gate. We supplied & installed matching flush walnut vents.

This job extends some material we installed years ago in the main residence into an enclosed porch project. The room has stone half walls which we scribed the material to.
Since the floor is over the old built up concrete porch floor we used engineered build material to achieve dimensional stability. The engineered build has a 4mm wear layer enabling it to be refinished multiple times in the future. 5",6", 7" character grade rift & quarter sawn white oak.
Color is proprietary cherry/brown mix. We purposely spaced the flooring for an authentic original look. Love it with the stone!!
