Anyone can make a room photograph well. True design is found in the details and the intentional choices, the restraint, the layering, and the thoughtfulness behind every single element. Can you believe there was no molding at all in this room and the old brick fireplace was covered up when we started?
Check out that ceiling. We went with a man’s suiting for wallcovering the 5th wall aka ceiling to minimize noise but to give it that old world parlor vibe. Our muse was Peaky Blinders afterall. Everything from the clawfoot of the old desk that was manufactured in the 1930s to a repurposed fireplace. I sourced an old Philadelphia map from the 1930s when this beautiful brownstone was built. Whether new pieces like the Barcart, old antiques like the ottoman, or a chesterfield leather sofa with patina, everything was considered to ensure cohesion as well as Mr Nathan the dachshund design assistant for this project.
