JIM BUSH FLORIST IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS
After 25 years of operation, it is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that Jim Bush Florist is closing its doors because its owners are retiring. We have been very proud to run this locally owned small business and would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.
Jim Bush Flower Shop was founded in 1997 in the basement of the old Hyers Drugstore. When we began, our family set out to provide the people of North Augusta (and the surrounding areas) a florist that combined beautiful flower arrangements with the first class customer service. We were convinced that if we could do those two things, we could become a successful “Mom and Pop family” business. Which literally, we were, because our employees were both a Mom (Lucille) and a Pop (Jim) in addition to two sons (Jimmy and Charley), a daughter (Terri), and eventually, even a grandson (Jackson). As the years passed, we lost some and others moved along but our business endured. Yes, it endured because of our hard work, but there is one undeniable reason why we were fortunate enough to last this long - our loyal base of customers.
Calling the people who supported our business just “customers” kind of does them a disservice because we have always looked upon them as our friends. Our family has lived in North Augusta for generations and we know, in our hearts, why this is a very special place. Even as progress continues to change the look of our hometown, we will always believe that it will keep its “small town” feel simply because of the people who call it home. And they are the reason we were able to endure all these years. It has been our privilege and a sincere pleasure to serve you. We want to say thank you for your business, for your loyalty and especially for your friendship.
None of this would have been possible without the talent, creativity, and dedication of our floral designers. We owe many thanks to all of our former employees. People like Marie Cook and Vicki Sumerau (more family!) and all the other designers who worked for us over the years. And, of course, to Rachel Henson and Jimmy Gossett, who have been with us for awhile now, thank you for everything you have done to make “the Shop” not just a place to work but a place to enjoy working. We hope you look at us as we look at y’all, as family.
A special thank you to the Collins boys and all the good people at Georgia State Wholesale who have been so helpful and so vital in our success from the beginning.
From our vendors to our sales reps, from the Open House volunteer hostesses to the Valentines Day and Mothers Day delivery helpers, we thank you and all of the others who have helped us be successful along the way.
As much as Charley and I look forward to retiring, closing “the Shop” will be bittersweet. It has been such a huge part of our lives. But beginning a new chapter is exciting and will bring new challenges and hopefully, continued blessings and happiness. Family and grandchildren will keep us busy. And we are so lucky to still have our father with us and we look forward to being able to spend more time with him. Finally, these last two years should remind us that time is precious and finite. It is our hope that you take the time and make the effort to show the people in your life that they are loved. Be kind to one another and always try to look for the goodness in people. You won’t regret it.
Over the course of these 25 years we have always worked diligently and tirelessly to deliver to our customers a flower shop that provided them with what they needed, whether in times of joy or sorrow. We truly tried to do the best we could. We hope we lived up to your expectations.
Love,
Jim, Terri, & Charley
