From cocoon to silk šŸ›āœØ

Silk begins as one incredibly fine, continuous filament wrapped around a silkwormā€™s cocoon. During the traditional reeling process, the cocoons are softened in warm water so the delicate fibers can be found, unwound, and gathered together into silk thread.
And sometimes, once the silk has been reeled away, you get a little reminder of where it all began. Look closely at the end of the video and youā€™ll meet the tiny maker behind the magic.

See the process up close at Hasanā€™s Rugs Workshop in Istanbul.

Before a single knot is tied, the journey begins with a frame crafted from hornbeam wood. Then comes the meticulous work of counting, arranging, and tensioning every silk warp thread, one by one.
It takes our artisans 6ā€“7 hours just to prepare this loom. And thatā€™s only the beginning.
Over the next three years, a magnificent silk rug featuring the Flowers of Seven Mountains design will slowly come to life, knot by knot, thread by thread.
This is what it takes to create something worth keeping for generations.
Welcome to the beginning of a three-year journey at Hasanā€™s Rugs Workshop.
