No, don't adjust your screens, I really AM this handsome! Most people know me for my fabulous ears that flop up and down, up and down, as I collect breakfast and dinner bowls twice a day. When we have our annual Pizza Party, in July, I also enjoy gathering empty pizza boxes as well! Now, I don't just collect any bowl or box... I'm a discriminating enthusiast who aims for quality over quantity. Only the finest of our 25 bowls and dozens of pizza boxes are selected for my sleeping quarters. Some of my friends like to carry straw, sticks, or blue play tarps into their nests, but I prefer bowls because they bring me solace at the end of my busy days. Some people have wondered if they're like security blankets to me.
In addition to being a helpful bowl collector, I'm also known for my very energetic tail! Unfortunately, it was cropped when I was just a piglet, but you can still see it wagging in delight during belly rubs, back scratches, meal times, and when I collect bowls. The caregivers give me round-the-clock care specific to my needs so that they will call my name throughout the day, and I'll come right over - tail wagging and all! I love attention!
Seeing as how I'm approximately 11-years-old, I need to take medication for my arthritis. It can cause stomach ulcers, so I'm given slippery elm half an hour before to help coat and protect my stomach. To the minute, I am usually at the gate, ready for my slippery elm hidden inside a fig newton, and will be back at the gate exactly 30 minutes later for my arthritis medication, also hidden inside a fig newton!
Almost 9 years ago, I came to HEEFS with my good friends Bear, Len, and Bobbie. We came from a failing farm sanctuary in Quebec. I am one of the luckiest boys to have the privilege and honour of being loved. It's not always about the pizza parties and belly rubs; it's the love. And it's made all the difference in my big, beautiful, ear-flopping, tail-wagging, fun-filled life.
