Happy Chardonnay Day from Wine Racks America.
Today feels like a good excuse to share a little Chardonnay history.
Chardonnay is most closely tied to Burgundy, France, where it became one of the world’s most important white grapes. One fun fact: DNA research later identified Chardonnay as a cross between Pinot and Gouais Blanc, a pairing that helped create one of the most widely loved white wines in the world.
It is also one of the best examples of how place and winemaking style shape the final bottle.
In France, Chardonnay can be crisp, mineral, and highly driven by terroir, especially in Chablis, while other white Burgundies can be richer and more textured. In the U.S., particularly in California, Chardonnay became known for a fuller, riper style, often with more oak influence and the creamy character many people associate with classic American Chardonnay. More recently, many California producers have also moved toward fresher, more restrained styles.
That range is part of what makes Chardonnay so enduring.
At Wine Racks America, we love wines with stories behind them, and we believe the bottles you enjoy most deserve storage that is just as thoughtful as the collection itself.
Happy Chardonnay Day.
