A large piece cracked a little in the glaze fire. There is a Japanese method of repairing ceramics, rather than discarding them, called “Kintsugi”. In this method, ceramics are mended back together with real gold. The philosophy is about caring for things and repairing them with even more valuable material, so we remain grateful for the things we are privileged to have in our lives.
I don’t have the skills or tools (or budget!) to work with real gold, so here’s a “work-around” — I filled the crack with adhesive, then painted on gold leaf. I quite like it. Your thoughts??
