Love to sew? Here’s another technique to add to your toolbox.

Foundation Paper Piecing lets you create sharp points, unusual angles, tiny pieces, and incredibly detailed designs—without having to precisely cut every little shape first.

And yes, it’s easier than those complicated-looking paper patterns make it seem.

When I was invited to join by Eva Saunders | Fabric Artist & Educator, I couldn't have been more excited! A Dark Magic / Fantasy style quilt collaboration project - that's pretty much everything I love!

I immediately began to brainstorm what I wanted my block to represent (there are so many amazing possibilities). I settled on: The Bookbound Demon.

I took inspiration from my the most memorable mysterious, cloaked, and often misunderstood characters from my favorite , such as: (Dementor & Death), (Suriel), Eragon (Durza the Shade), and maybe even Kaltain from Throne of Glass 👀🤷‍♀️ (anyone else have theories??)

Thirteen designers. One coven.

And one uninvited observer. 💀

He hasn’t said much. He mostly stands there, occasionally inspecting the potion ingredients.

We’ve decided not to ask questions.

What we can tell you is that thirteen quilt designers have come together to create The Grimoire—a new quilt project inspired by dark magic, fantasy, lore, potions, creatures, romance, and the stories that keep us reading long after we should have gone to bed.
