How do I square up my quilts after quilting and before binding?

First, I tag my husband into the mix!

Hubby has become my go-to for his squaring skills, and our not-so-secret weapon… a laser level.

Yes, I’m the mechanical engineer, but apparently he’s earned the title of Quilt Squaring Specialist around here. 😂

The laser level helps us get everything nice and straight before trimming and adding the binding—and honestly, it works like a charm!

Quilting really is a team sport in our house.

I’m incredibly honored to have my Pixelated Love quilt pattern featured in the White Owl Textiles Fall 2026 LookBook in two colorways on pages 113 and 121! Link to catalog in comments.

This pattern holds a special place in my heart. I originally designed Pixelated Love in honor of my husband and me renewing our wedding vows, using colors from our wedding.

It was so much fun to reimagine this meaningful pattern in two completely different colorways using White Owl Textiles’ Fundamentals and Eco Cotton fabric lines. I love seeing how a new color palette can give the same quilt an entirely new look!

History, innovation… and of course I found the sewing machines. 🧵❤️

My husband and I spent the weekend exploring the Henry Ford Museum, and while we walked through some incredible pieces of American history, I couldn’t help but stop and admire every sewing machine we came across.

From machines dating all the way back to 1852 through 1955, it was amazing to see how sewing technology has evolved over more than a century. As a quilt pattern designer, I couldn’t help but imagine all the beautiful quilts, garments, and memories these machines helped create.
