Come along with me as I prepare for my hand-tied bouquet workshop at Bowood Farms .

10 days out, I source the flowers from the collective of local growers nearby. The week of the workshop, I pick up flowers, get them processed, and hold them in my flower cooler.

The day of, I load up my car and head to Bowood. This particular morning, I left around 8:15 am to arrive by 9. Then, I unload, set up for the workshop, and await all the participants.

After a demonstration by yours truly, everyone gets to create their own beautiful bouquet 💐!

Planning a fall wedding? Here are 3 seasonal flowers I highly recommend for your flower design that can get overlooked.

1.) Heirloom mums - these late fall-blooming flowers come in a variety of beautiful colors and often grow on long stems.

2.) Celosia - another flower that grows in a diverse range of shapes and colors. I love how the plume varieties can mimic colorful grass and add a bit of funkiness to a piece. Cockscomb varieties add great visual interest and texture.

3.) Sedum - this one is fantastic fresh or dry. I love to use it to add depth to large installations and centerpieces and its reliability out of water makes it a winner for wearables like boutonnieres and corsages.

To be a floral designer people specifically reach out to is something I didn't expect when I first started out.

It's an honor to connect with each couple I work with and I certainly don't take that for granted. It's a gift to have that relationship and your trust.

I may be wrong, but I don't think I am.

Couples aren't just looking for specific flowers or wanting to hop on a bandwagon. They want a floral design that feels authentic to them.

I am all in!

If I had under $5k to spend on my wedding flowers, here's where it would go:

1. A high-impact piece like a ceremony installation. Bonus points if it can double as reception florals.

2. Personals. Not necessarily the entire wedding party, but definitely the couple. This could also be a different special piece like a handfasting cord or garland to exchange.

3. Additional statement pieces for your reception. I like something that welcomes your guests into the space and then centerpieces for the tables. Candlelight makes a great addition.

I spent the day at Leia Zumbro Jewelry Designer yesterday to celebrate National Girlfriends Day with flowers and jewelry.

Local flowers making my job easy. I love how these wrapped bouquets turned out.

Leia has built a wonderful community of not only clients but friends. It was a joy watching her talk to everyone who stopped by.

If I could have them all, I would! 😍

All in all, it was a wonderful Saturday. I met a lot of new people, I was surrounded by gorgeous handcrafted jewelry, and I had the opportunity to learn more about Leia.
