A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the studio for this weekend’s Seconds Sale. It was a joy to connect with you and see many of you digging through pieces, and filling the space with so much energy. We’re grateful, as always, for the support.

And for those who couldn’t make it, keep an eye out. A selection of seconds will be online sooner or later ;-)

Save the date 🗓️ Our Seconds Sale is back on May 16 + 17 at the studio (2725 Magnolia St)! Join us from 11 am - 4 pm both days to explore a wide range of discounted seconds.

These are pieces are still beautiful and fully functional, but for one reason or another did not make it into our regular inventory. A glaze may have fired a little differently than intended, the color may have landed slightly off, or a form may have a small irregularity that makes it uniquely its own.

On Saturday, May 16, East Bay’s local hot dog truck, D.O.G., will be with us serving Miller’s all-beef hot dogs and locally made sausages in their housemade toasty buns and toppings. They’re making some kraut in one of our Fermentation Jars; it might make an appearance! We love their food. We will also be joined by 3 popup vendors! .vinegar will be here, .sf will be here, and .bryson will be here with her beautiful candles.

Come by the studio, find something special, and grab some lunch.

Most days, the studio is quiet, but there’s a lot going on. Clay being handled, worktables in use, pieces finding their place, the steady rhythm of making ceramics carrying on in the background.

Fresh out of the kiln! It’s the first real look at how everything turned out and it never gets less exciting. Some pieces land just as expected, others shift in ways you can’t plan.

Once the form was finalized, we moved from hand-throwing to slip-casting to create consistency across each piece. The process starts with a model that becomes a mold, and then a master mold, which is used to produce the final jars. Each one is made in parts and assembled, allowing us to replicate the form while maintaining the integrity of the original design.

These fermentation jars have been years in the making. What started as hand-thrown experiments on the wheel slowly evolved through different shapes, handle styles, and proportions. Some versions worked, some didn’t, but each one helped refine the final form. This is the jar that made it through, and the one we still make today.

Momo shares her go-to approach for bouquets that feel natural and balanced: start with a vase that supports your stems, use coated chicken wire for structure, and then let yourself have fun with it.
