One of the best things about having a retail store is that people can come and go freely - our doors are always open (except on Mondays 😉). I love seeing familiar faces visit unexpectedly. This past Saturday was a great example, when Jake Myrick of and Philip Harper of came to our shop. Two sake brewers in the house! Over a cup of tea, we chatted about the state of rice in Japan and the U.S. I am always thankful when folks come over the bridge to meet us out here in Oakland. Hoping we can make it out to the legendary brewery some time in the future too. Find Philip’s White Label Yamahai Muroka Nama Genshu Junmai Sake on our shelves now.

Dre’s Daddy Day Dram Recs🥃

FOR THE RUGGED DAD
St. George Baller
St. George is a hero of legend, just like your dad. Also the whisky is local and tastes good.

Iwai Tradition
Reminiscent of highland Scotches, but with a little corn to round it out. Great body, slightly smoky, slightly sweet, just like your old man.

FOR THE REFINED DAD
Hibiki Harmony
A light and complex dram in a gorgeous multifaceted package. Looks like a gem on the shelf.

Mars Y.A. #4
Two single malts combined and aged in a warm climate. Refined, layered, and intricate, just like Dad in a suit.

FOR THE COLLECTOR DAD
Kanosuke 2025 “Double Distilleries” Edition Japanese Whisky
The newest release of Kanosuke for your dear old pops who loves all things limited, exclusive, and elusive.

Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu U.S. 2025 Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky
Different graphics grace the labels every year, and this edition has Mark Twain on the bottle, like come on!

FOR THE DISTINGUISHED DAD
Malt Duo Akkeshi x Mars Tsunuki
Two great distilleries (one legendary, the other just a new kid on the block), come together to make a phenomenal whisky. A wonderfully balanced team like you and Dad.

Suntory Hakushu 12 Year Whisky
Treat your pops to this classic, smoky whisky of grand stature, from the Japanese Alps.
